It has been a high-speed FP2 the one of this Australian weekend.

FP2: the results.

The track was faster than the previous session, and that is surely made clear by drivers which already went five tenths faster than the 2024 FP2 session. Everybody started with medium tyres and Sainz immediately showed how fast Williams can go. Everybody except Mercedes, that used hard tyres, which will probably be the tyre they will mostly use in the race.

FP2 continued with quali simulations, where we saw a big duel between Ferrari and McLaren. Lando took the lead with an incredible time of 1.16.580 and Charles answered right away with a 1.16.439.

Surely these two constructors will fight hard to beat the other, as the two cars seem pretty equivalent. Piastri then placed himself in second position with a 1.16.563, and his third sector was the fastest of the session. Hamilton finds himself in fifth position, fighting with understeer. In quali simulations we also saw RedBull drivers fighting with their cars, finding themselves only in 7th position for Verstappen and in 17th position for Lawson.

The last part of the session regarded long run simulations. Again we saw an equal fight between Papaya and the Scuderia, but also Mercedes showed good times that could demonstrate that they have the weapons to fight. Again RedBull was a bit slower than the others, especially Lawson who never went under the 1.23 in this long run. Haas found big problems in this session, as they only did four laps with Ocon, who ended the session in 19th position. Good effort also by Kick Sauber, which ended the session in 8th position with Hulkenberg. An extraordinary Yuki Tsunoda put his RB in 4th position.

This FP2 session, we have to remember, are only indicative, but it’s impossible not to get excited as we see that the two fastest cars are not far from each other. Who will win this Australian grand prix? Only time will tell us.

  1. Ottima recensione Sig. Bizzocoli. In effetti le vetture si sono subito dimostrare più veloci dello scorso anno
